Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan’s neo-western drama, is back with its Season 5 Part 2. The show has continued to gain positive reviews from viewers who enjoy watching the dysfunctional Dutton family, which shares many secrets.

The Dutton family owns the biggest ranch in Montana, which comes with a reputation they must maintain for the outside world. The Duttons have many secrets of their own, which, if leaked to the world, would tarnish their reputation forever.

But the Duttons don’t trust each other. Beth Dutton and her adoptive brother Jamie have shared a rivalry on the show since time immemorial.

And this should not be mistaken for any other sibling rivalry because she literally hates her brother on the show. Beth’s hatred for her brother stems from their teenage years when Jamie got her sterilized without even telling her.

More about their problematic relationship in Yellowstone.

Beth has hated her brother Jamie since their teenage years in Yellowstone

The siblings have always been fueled by hatred, which grew as the show progressed. While fans didn’t know why, the reason was finally revealed in Yellowstone Season 3 Episode 5 through flashbacks.

The secret is rooted in their teenage years when Beth got pregnant by Rip. Knowing her father would kill Rip if he found out about this, she asked for her brother’s help to get the child aborted.

But getting the abortion in a hospital was itself a challenge because everybody knew who the Duttons were. So, they could not go up to any hospital and get the abortion done.

Jamie took Beth to The Broken Rock clinic, the only place where nobody would know their identity. However, the clinic had a policy under which every woman needed to get sterilized for her to get an abortion.

Jamie didn’t tell her sister about the second half of the deal and got her sterilized, meaning she could never have children again.

Beth was devastated to learn that she would never be able to have a family of her own because of her brother, and she hated Jamie for that action.

Does Jamie have any secret of his own in Yellowstone?

Beth is not the only sibling with secrets in Yellowstone because she knows one of Jamie’s biggest secrets on the show. Jamie murdered his biological father, Garrett Randall, after the latter was released from prison.

Garrett was sentenced to prison for 30 years after he killed his wife. When he finally got out, he became acquainted with his son, now a Dutton. He would constantly poison Jamie against his adopted family on his visits.

This would create an identity crisis for Jamie. Frustrated by this, he killed Garrett and buried his body under the train station. This action was meant for his reconciliation with the Duttons, which backfired because Beth photographed him burying Garrett’s body.

Beth uses Jamie’s secret and her evidence to blackmail him. She finally gets a chance to control his brother’s life, as he did hers all those years back.

And since the evidence would mean an end to Jamie’s life, he agrees to Beth’s conditions.

Jamie’s boiling point arrives in Yellowstone Season 5, Episode 8 when he turns against the Duttons.

Will Beth Kill Jamie in Yellowstone Season 5?

Beth and Jamie’s turbulent relationship will come to a bloody end in the violent final episodes of Yellowstone. Season 5B kicked off with the horrifying off-screen death of John Dutton, who was murdered by a contract killer hired by Sarah Atwood.

Beth correctly ascertained that Sarah must have been working with Jamie and blamed her adopted brother for the death of their father. Now, she vows to bring Jamie to justice for his crimes against the family—finally setting up the chance for Beth to kill her brother after all these years.

With Kevin Costner’s untimely exit from the series, Yellowstone is pinning all of its hopes on the character of Beth Dutton, the new de facto head after John’s death. It would be a satisfying conclusion for Beth to finally get her revenge on Jamie for everything he’s done to ruin her life, though the series might take a surprise turn and flip the script, with Jamie proving victorious. Either way, fans are certain that both characters won’t survive Yellowstone‘s final episodes.
